Thank You For Being There For Me

Over the last weeks I’ve been debating several directions to take, one of them has to do with how to stay connected to my blog followers. I’ve been on an unbroken posting streak of over 550 days and my blog has been growing in popularity daily. I am so deeply grateful to all my followers for their support and contributions. I’ve been seriously stressed out about the possibility of loosing any of you amazing people, should I need to devote my time elsewhere, even temporarily. Well, the time has come and deadlines are approaching to make this decision more urgent. It’s killing me a little inside to do it, but I have t break my streak. So…

There are a few things pulling my focus away from my next big daily blog project, and both, funny enough, are probably going to fuel the next series of articles.

First: Found – The Repurposed Design Company.

As many of you have seen recently, I’ve been loving a new creative outlet in furniture design and refinishing. I’ve finished several pieces and now need to get them up on my dedicated website for sale. My big favour to ask of all of you is to please visit, follow, and share my website. Second: Getting My Teaching Degree

The deadline to apply is approaching fast. I have until November 1st to submit my applications to get enrolled in a degree that will give me my teaching permit in Quebec. The big challenge has been collecting information about which will be the best for me. The teaching permit comes from the Bachelor programs and I have several choices for that:

a) Early Childhood Education or Art Education at Concordia. Both get me a specialization with a teaching permit and both could potentially be combined to give me a combined degree of minors / majors that compliment my current B.A. in Child Studies. Ideally, I’d be restarting my teaching career in about three years and I could get a provisional permit to work as a substitute teacher.

b) The Bachelor of Education from McGill. This one is a tricky one, as I currently don’t have a teachable degree, so I’d not fulfil all the requirements. I may get in because of the work done in Child Studies. It’s a long shot worth applying for.

c) The Masters of Arts in Teaching Languages at McGill. This gives me a teaching certificate and like the B.Ed. I may not have the exact requirements, but might get a concession due to previous experience and life experience.

Do I apply as a regular student or a Mature student, or both?

I’ll be compiling documents and writing letters of intent this week for all of them. So, let’s go for it!

A Masters degree may offer me more opportunities and I’m very excited by the possibility of working at that level. Partially, because of the greater time flexibility it offers to earn income while studying.
