Would it disappoint you to know that no such person actually walked in for a coffee while I was sitting at Starbucks and drawing? Well, at least not while I was there. I had some time to burn, and a temporary memory loss about no longer liking their macho green tea latte, so I sat in a window to daydream and people watch. A little bored, I started looking at drawings on Pinterest and this image started forming in my mind. I just had to try it with my coloured charcoals. I think it was the hair that got me the most excited. Piled high on her head without any visible means to hold it up, and some disobeying strands trying hard to come loose from the carefully sculptured doo. I couldn’t see the back of her head in my minds eye, but felt there where no tight dreads there, but some soft and very long curls down her neck and back. She’s a natural beauty and full of confidence and a healthy pride.

Here’s what she looked like before letting the pencil dust fall away from the drawing. I thought it was a fun texture for her hair. It may not be as visible in the photo.
