Pinterest, in its awesomeness, sent me a series of paintings by the amazing Dan McCaw (https://www.mccawcontemporary.com). I believe his work is new to me and as you can imagine, I fell right into all of it! It’s flowy, richly layered, fantastically expressive, and packed with stories… at least it kicked my mind into storytelling mode for each new one I discovered. Well, I couldn’t help myself and had to make my own versions based on his style.
I can see how to do it in oil paint and wanted to start in oil pastels to see what I could do. What follows are figures that might show up at a modern version of the great ball depicted in Poe’s The Mask of the Red Death.
