We saw these in a small area, deep under the heavy canopy, next to heavily rotted logs… and nowhere else in the entire forest. They seemed to be spreading out from a core near the logs. Bright and translucent white blooms; they vibrated and seemed blurry to my eyes as if I was looking at them through the water. They look like coral growths in every aspect, except the texture… These are very smooth, like most mushrooms. I didn’t pluck any to dry and see how they might look dehydrated. Since I saw none in partial decay, like so many other mushrooms there, I assume they recede into the undergrowth when dead, possibly to re-emerge when the time is right.
