I needed to step away from the other ways of painting so far and I felt I hadn’t yet explored dabbing the paint onto the canvas, nor had I dived into a monochrome portrait. The former, because I didn’t want to destroy my brushes, which is what tends to happen when one grinds the bristles into the canvas. The later, because to date all the challenges given to me have been with colours.

Close up and in hi-resolution, the glasses don’t look quite right… funny and quirky, yes, but not quite right. The live painting works better. I may dust a little highlight on the glasses, but for now I’ll leave this alone. I think it looks odd, because I didn’t dab them on, so it lacks the nice texture.

I’m off to paint some new challenges… it will be a similar pose, but very different styles. Stay tuned…
