Prismacolor has some of the best drawing pencils around, for color and for durability of the pigments within the wood pencil. Unless you want to be working with crumbs and cracked bits, this is THE essential charcoal product to use. This awesome kit gives you all the tools to smudge and finalize until your heart’s content.

I’ve experimented with all sorts of charcoals and have lost patience with the fragility of lower brands. I’ve even made my own on the BBQ. Although lots of fun, this is a messy product that doesn’t clean easy off of clothes or skin.

I prefer the convenience of the wood pencil.
