Beneath the canopy’s veil,
a hidden world of decay
grows insidiously,
climbing the sides of trees
with quiet, creeping feet.
Fungi, the colonizers
of a forest’s darkened decay
innocuously harmful,
their tendrils reaching
into every crack and crevice.
Uncertain and uncomfortable,
these forests hold secrets
of a world unseen,
where decay and growth
dance their endless dance.
The colonizing decay of fungus
a reminder of nature’s power
to both create and destroy
as we stand in awe
of their silent, creeping climb.
And so we venture forth,
into these uncertain woods
where fungi reign supreme
reminding us of the cycle of life
and the beauty of decay.
