The artist, forever chasing their muse
Through the valleys of creativity
And the peaks of self-doubt
Haunted by the fear of imitation
Of the ones who who inspired them
Obsessing over their heroes
And the legacy they left behind
But fear grips their heart
As they struggle not to mimic
For fear of the dreaded comparison
The artist, a tortured soul
Lost in the labyrinth of their mind
Fighting the demons of self-doubt
As they try to find their own voice
But the whispers of imposter syndrome
Are always lurking in the shadows
Ready to strike at the slightest hint
Of a well-wishing spectator’s praise
And so the artist continues
In this perpetual pursuit of authenticity
Traversing the treacherous terrain
Of their own creativity and doubt
Hoping one day to find
Their own unique expression
And be free from the shackles, self-imposed,
Of their heroes and the fear of comparison.
