This dwarf maple from Japan,

A tiny being in my garden,

Screams uniqueness,

So strange, so alien,

Infinitely fascinating.

Its leaves dance in the slightest breeze,

A hypnotic swaying,

Whispering ways of seeing, ways of being,

Of places yet unknown,

Experiences not yet lived.

It takes so little space,

Yet demands my attention,

A constant reminder,

Of the diversity of living things,

The beautiful strangeness of this world.

In my little zen landscape,

I connect with this dwarf maple,

A humble student,

Learning from its ways,

Absorbing its essence.

Oh, the possibilities of living things,

From lands real and in our mind,

May we always be in awe,

Of their uniqueness and beauty,

Forever fascinated.
