See the caterpillar, so brightly adorned,

In vibrant yellow hues that dazzle the eyes,

Against a backdrop of verdant green leaves,

A feast for this sense, a visual delight.

What if the photographer’s lens strips away,

The colours of this wondrous creature,

Elevating it to shades of black and white,

Revealing its texture and form even more vibrant.

No longer can we see its brilliant hues,

But still, it captivates our attention,

With its amorphous body and delicate grace,

A creature of beauty and fascination.

Do we really lose the colours of life,

To the lenses of our own perception,

Making our the world shades of black and white,

And missing the vividness of reality?

Instead consider this caterpillar,

And its beauty that transcends the limitations,

Of our own eyes and cameras,

And embraces the fullness of life’s textures in all its hues.
