On a street in Montreal, around Concordia’s lot,
There’s a mural that tells a story of a life well-wrought,
It’s a portrait of a man with a voice so deep,
Whose words have moved souls and made them weep.
Leonard Cohen, he was the poet of our time,
With his lyrics so profound, they seem almost divine,
His voice was like velvet, his words, like gold,
They spoke to our hearts, to the young and the old.
The mural captures the essence of his soul,
A man of mystery, with a heart of coal,
But beneath the surface, there was a heart of gold,
A man who lived life fully, and never grew old.
The mural captures his iconic fedora hat,
And his gaze that looks right through you at that,
It’s a tribute to the man who wrote “Hallelujah”,
A hymn of understanding from Montreal’s poetic Buddha.
So as you walk down Crescent Street,
Take a moment to stop and bask in the heat,
Of Leonard Cohen’s mural, as long as we can,
Whose words will live on, a tribute to the man.

A beautiful mural. Like the heartbeat of the city.
