I noticed that in many of my drawings, the face appears to be smiling, however it feels like a forced smile. As a reaction, I chose to make this face more grotesque to match the true feelings behind the forced smile. This isn’t a face of bliss, but rather a face of hidden pain. This may just be the frame of mind I’m in and I’m possibly projecting this feeling on the drawing. I tend to let the drawings flow from my hands and let go of the image to grow on it’s own, then let it tell me what it wants to say. They tend to speak from my inner voice of a truth in time.
