What is an artists, if not someone begging for attention? Of course there’s much more to it than that! There are our by-polar personality traits: Antisocial and exhibitionistic; focused and disorganized; self-indulgent and people pleaser… Well, you get the idea… We’re complicated!
I’m not sure what corner of my psyche this oddity comes from, but it sure does feel autobiographical.

Food for thought, Athena. However, unlikely. I am rarely lacking in stimulation; quite the opposite. I’m lacking in meditative and reflective down time.

I find painting helps immensely with that. If I read too much I need to write to transform that knowledge into something. My brain gets itchy, I can’t sit still and I offload so much information onto others it’s insane.

Right now, the only place I find some of that quiet is when doing ceramics. It requires a certain mindlessness. One must allow their hands to communicate with the clay. I find zen there.
