Cat As Ornament – Music-book Doodles 2022

Inspired by a small sculpture I saw on Pinterest… slightly Pre-Columbian in style… the sculpture was all brown and burnished smooth in a more modern style, but I still saw movement in it. I wanted to keep the sculptural feel and infuse some animation into it: I changed the colours to something warmer and blurred (thanks to how I use pastels) the image a little… it added texture and some movement to it. I also wanted to give it more of a facial expression, as my cats often look alert and inquisitive. I feel that the five legs give, instead of four, give it some additional movement.
