Cow In Green – Music-book Doodles 2022

I feel this comes from some silly animation short from the NFB (National Film Board of Canada) I must have seen in my childhood. The cow is clearly responding to some disturbance in its field and launching the question of what it is at the audience. What is it seeing / what disturbed it?

I am really enjoying playing with unlikely colours for skies and grasses… it adds the cartoonish or illustration feel I’m looking for. There is also something really intriguing about seeing the words and music printed under the oil pastels… it really brings a dimension of life to the composition.
