A little over two years ago I started an Artist Way type exercise, where I would draw a spontaneous abstract in ink on a 4″ by 9″ watercolour sketch book I found on the liquidation pile at the local arts supply store. Each day I would draw one with the effort to make if somehow an evolution of the one done the previous day. I had not added stories to them yet.

I now realize that stories build in my mind as I draw each image, paint each canvas, and repurpose furniture pieces. There’s always a story doing on in my head, as my hands do what they do.

What follows is a collage of the raw drawings. I’ve played with my photo-editing program and still haven’t found the right way of modifying them. I like the tension between depth and simplicity in the black and white drawings. I may change that on some, if and when I get around to letting them evolve onto canvas with paint. In the meantime, I may post these, as is, on at Arts M.Perron.
