“Trying to be happy by accumulating possessions is like trying to satisfy hunger by taping sandwiches all over your body.” By George Carlin
Well, can’t get any clearer than this, can you? Happiness is an inside thing. We cannot get happiness; we can only be happy. Stuff is external. Surrounding yourself with stuff might be fun for a moment or two, but then what? You are still left with yourself, but not with an obscured horizon. You can’t see through stuff, it blinds you. When you close your eyes, you can’t see the stuff you thought made you happy. If you feel happy and your eyes are closed, look inwards, you’ll see where it comes from. Shed attention on the happiness within and that will feed it to grow.
