If you’ve read the last two posts, you know I’ve decided to do multiple works at the same time, in order to slow down my process and to incorporate more reflection into it. I hope that working in multiple styles and with multiple techniques / materials I will also stave off those moments of self-doubt when I crave feedback from others who don’t live in my head and try to help regardless. Ok, I do actually like people’s feedback, really. I just want to indulge in a personal vision on this one and see where it can go.

I gessoed over an old painting I no longer cared for… I may have mentioned that already a few weeks ago… maybe… I love using my old canvases or heavily textured canvases… I find the bumpy surface adds something to my work… maybe it’s a challenge I crave. Anyway, I enjoy it…

I started with a sharpie, drawing general outlines and adding some details… I could hear what I tell my students: it’s just a rough sketch, it doesn’t need to be perfect, because you will be transforming it completely with paint and adding more to that afterward.

I have no title in mind yet and I’m still not sure exactly what style will emerge the winner… will see… It’s also on a big canvas (48″ x 36″).

Stay tuned…
