Simon in the land of chalk drawings comes to mind when I see this little guy. Hard to equate him with the brutal character in Frank Baum’s books. Ok, I’m starting to second guess myself and wonder why I remember the character to be written so brutally. Was he not originally the witch’s henchman? I GUESS I HAVE TO REREAD IT… in the meantime, say hello to this little fellow…
The near 2D-ness of him adds to his innocence and lack of intimidation. Maybe my memory is self-correcting the true nature of this heartless icon and wanting the redemption of the character to prevail.
I haven’t mentioned it yet, but the fine tip Sharpie is not my favourite tool. I want a thicker line… However, I’m determined to explore this as a possibility.
Stay tuned for more to come…
