It's been almost a year since we moved into our condo overlooking a portion of Riviere des Prairies in Sainte-Genevieve, Quebec, Canada. Not a day has passed that we haven't marvelled with gratitude at the gorgeous views we experience looking out our patio doors. For the next while, I'll be sharing these vistas with you; … Continue reading Sunsets over Rivière-des-Prairies – Documenting light and colour changes in time
Recycled Centuries – Montreal Walls – Thirteen
See more of Montreal Walls... Montreal is a port city founded over 375 years ago and the building materials were readily gathered from the land of the island, as well as the iron rich, sturdy slate, and granite core of this dormant volcano we live on. In the older parts of the city, the foundations … Continue reading Recycled Centuries – Montreal Walls – Thirteen
Finding The Sunset in a Flower
To the naked eye, this flower appears canary yellow. I moved the plant around and allowed the bright sunlight to move across and through the petals, then I started to see they were actually made up of many colours. I didn't achieve this sunset range with vibrancies, not saturations, they were all hiding in the … Continue reading Finding The Sunset in a Flower
Shadows at Sunset
I don't recall how or when I took this shot. It must have been when I was shadow hunting around the house. It was a very blurry shot, to begin with and the light in the original was at sunrise, not sunset. I usually don't see so much red in the morning sun, but this … Continue reading Shadows at Sunset
Hellish Night
I returned at sunset to see what colours might have changed on previous images. The gargoyle looked different. There were more colours on the surface of the stone, but it was the glow of the sky that changed the whole mood of the picture. I cropped the image more to the right to highlight the … Continue reading Hellish Night
Sunset Time
I am simply fascinated by this plant. The intricately interwoven filaments that form a nearly perfect sphere are gorgeous. For more … Continue reading Sunset Time

500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #367 – Al Ain Desert #37
Al Ain Desert #37 Imaginings from what is perceived: The dunes seam like cut-outs with the sun behind them, but they give off a subtle light and heat. The sun scatters lights through the humidity in the air and reflects off my camera lens, like an impressionist painting with a post-modern nod to greater simplicity. … Continue reading 500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #367 – Al Ain Desert #37
500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #366 – Al Ain Desert #1
Al Ain Desert #1 Imaginings from what is perceived: The tree was my main reason for this composition, but as I was examining the different shots I took of it, I saw the small shadow on the sun and a series of images came to me. From the helicopter scene in Apocalypse Now to the … Continue reading 500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #366 – Al Ain Desert #1
500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #365 – Al Ain Desert #5
Al Ain Desert #5 Imaginings from what is perceived: Are we still in the desert, or have we moved to Mars? This glimmer shot across the window, just as we came around a dune and heading straight for this hill when I got this shot. It’s easy to imagine John Carpenter walking hand in hand … Continue reading 500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #365 – Al Ain Desert #5
