Don’t Fall in Love

The rain falls past my light post at night

to land sadly on my white canvas shoes

The sounds of Genesis

emanate from my earphones to vibrate in my ears

but fail miserably to change my mood.

Person after person walks me by

on there busy journey to nowhere significant

She says she still can’t show me love

Maybe it’s a lie…

Maybe life should once again go on.

Why don’t I ever know?

by M. Perron (Originally written Nov. 20, 1991)

Notes: Deep in the disappointment of failed relationships… I’d forgotten what dramas I enjoyed for myself back then.
