I did another version of this pretty lady a few days ago and I find the image keeps coming back as if I’m not entirely finished figuring out what she wants to say. Is she trolling the ballroom? Is she confident or scared? Is she a predator or victim? What does this reflect from my psyche?
The dress remains the same-ish, but the room is now full of blue. I can’t decide if I find the blue as calming as I intended, or if it adds tension to the mood.
Dimension: 9″ (23cm) x 12″ (30cm)
More to come…
That so-intense blue doesn’t feel calming. Perhaps there’s a storm brewing.

Maybe the “so-intense blue” is the energy she brings and effect she has in others when entering a room. It’s fascinating to me how much individual perceptions and interpretations of artworks consistently show us, the viewers’ state of mind, rather than any intention of the artist. I love that!

Interpretation is in the eye of the beholder. But yes, I see what you’re saying too: she lights up the room when she enters, eyes turn towards her and the conversations stop…

Every interpretation is a gift to me. Thank you, Chris.
