See T’Hed Two for earlier explorations…

I wanted to play with colour a little more, but mainly I wanted to see what oil pastels might achieve. I apply several colours onto the paper then use a smudge stick to blend it. I’m not crazy for the results this time… maybe it’s because I got more comfortable with painting acrylics these past years. Maybe it’s because this technique works best with dry pastels. We shall see…

This sketch is also on white watercolour paper, 16″(40cm) x 12″(30cm).

I think I need to use a thicker charcoal stick because the small one I did use got gummed up with oil pastel and I have a harder time making the lines. Interesting challenge to remember for the future.

Stay tuned for more explorations…
