I can’t wear my glasses when I’m swimming, so fish tend to look blurry at best to me. What is the essence I see… colours and shapes transformed in my mind by the multitude of images of fish I’ve seen prior to needing glasses: they are beautiful and simple creatures floating quietly around, but always alert for danger. The alertness may be a little obvious here in the upturned nose and wide eye, but the calm floating is represented by the lack of all but the tail fin. The positioning of this fish near the surface of the water suggests this was an accidental encounter that might be a surprise to the swimmer and the fish. The more I stare at my drawing, the greater my amused wonderment at the unlikely existence of such a fish.
What do you see?
