Sunset Time

I am simply fascinated by this plant. The intricately interwoven filaments that form a nearly perfect sphere are gorgeous. I zoomed in and focused on the sphere itself, contrasting out the greenery behind it. The final effect was that it appeared as if the setting sun was illuminating it. I fond it beautiful! The Folkish Art Deco Lamp – Part 1

Am I Folk Art or Art Deco? This big guy has the most wonderfully hideous macrame shade over the metal cage you see here. If you can possibly imagine it, the macrame was torn and tattered, and covered with what looked like an old apron turned into a lamp-shade cozy. It was quite the sight … Continue reading The Folkish Art Deco Lamp – Part 1

500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #375 – Moon 12-007a

Moon 12-007a Imaginings from what is perceived: I obviously played a little with exposure and vibrancy here. I feel this would make a great hallway mural, but I tend to enjoy a creepy in my environment. What inspires an artist? “All they see” is the first and most literal answer. For me, that is several … Continue reading 500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #375 – Moon 12-007a

500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #374 – Moon 12-002a

Moon 12-002a Imaginings from what is perceived: The fun of black & white is all about the old monster movies for me. I can hear the werewolves howling in the dark and expect a bat to fly by at any moment. I also imagine the sky & moon maps I got with my first telescope. … Continue reading 500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #374 – Moon 12-002a

500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #373 – Moon 11-006a

Moon 11-006a Imaginings from what is perceived: I was reading a book on Japanese watercolors and this composition felt exactly like them to me. I imagine this painted on a long strip of silk, hanging near a doorway of some affluent family home. What inspires an artist? “All they see” is the first and most … Continue reading 500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #373 – Moon 11-006a

500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #372 – Moon 11-002a

Moon 11-002a Imaginings from what is perceived: I often see my shots as movie stills. The moon and different hues are hidden in the sky around it, allow for expressions of moods at a far greater range than day time shots. I’m curious to know how this shot makes you feel. What inspires an artist? … Continue reading 500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #372 – Moon 11-002a

500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #371 – Moon 12-004a

Moon 12-004a Imaginings from what is perceived: The moon has a particular attraction to us. It adds mood and intensity to every image. It can be ominous & foreboding; luminous & joyous; playful & whimsical. I love seeing it through the car window. I love seeing it through the trees. I love seeing it in … Continue reading 500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #371 – Moon 12-004a

500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #370 – Halloween 14-002

Halloween 14-002 Imaginings from what is perceived: This odd decoration sits on the tree and always seems out of place. I blame the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. It seems quite unhappy to be stuck in a tree. Perhaps, I’ll let him float back to see and one day release him in the river. What … Continue reading 500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #370 – Halloween 14-002

500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #368 – Fall 14-006

Fall 14-006 Imaginings from what is perceived: This Fall has given some very interesting colors. There's something creepy in the air and this foggy morning gave us all the Halloween we could want. Maybe I should be keeping my eyes closer to the ground, to see if any white faces are peering from behind the … Continue reading 500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #368 – Fall 14-006

500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #367 – Al Ain Desert #37

Al Ain Desert #37 Imaginings from what is perceived: The dunes seam like cut-outs with the sun behind them, but they give off a subtle light and heat. The sun scatters lights through the humidity in the air and reflects off my camera lens, like an impressionist painting with a post-modern nod to greater simplicity. … Continue reading 500 Works of Art on the Road to Your Creativity #367 – Al Ain Desert #37
