Book Reviews: Caps For Sale: A tale of a Peddler, Some Monkeys, and Their Monkey Business by Esphyr Slobodkina
I feel I’ve seen this one sometimes ago in my own childhood.
A very simple tale with lots of repetition and an uncertain meaning. Great way to start a conversation with kids…. sometimes.
As a teaching tool, I feel I could possibly use this one as an open discussion to get to know more about the kids. It has possibilities for lessons on optimism, mindfulness, listening, problem-solving, and faith that everything works out in the end.
The illustrations are quite similar to Edward Gorey’s work and equally amusing.
I imagine a very young child might enjoy the silly monkeys.
