The matter-of-factness of some animals hits me right in the funny bone. y cats and dog all stop at odd noises and make the funniest faces. I hoped to capture that funny, curious, inquiring face in this illustration. The angular lines are meant to depict the rigid and sudden stance taken by my pets when they are stopped by something. It always feels like they are blurting (and mumbling) out the question “What was that?” Of course the expression always seems to linger just a little too long before slowly thawing and letting them go back to whatever they were. doing before.
