There’s a simple and deep joy in imagining how a child sees things. They might not yet understand the physical reality of weight, size, depth, or even colours, but they can express it visually. This is my goal in doing these child-like doodles… to capture the essence of the subject, as a child might see it. I have been seeing something really fun on social media lately: one or more artists are manipulating photos of real animals to match children’s drawings of them and they always post them with the same sort of question: “How wonderful would the world be if we saw things. as children do?” I believe the answer would be a resounding YES. There are fewer unknowns in the pure visions they perceive when evaluated from our larger experiences.
