An Update from the desk of The Adaptable Educator

My Dearest Readers,

All has been good and my usually many creative project have increased tremendously… let me explain the challenges in this increase…

1 – The unexpected joy of teaching Grade 11-French (Sec V, here in Quebec) summer classes: smaller Classe sizes, motivated students, quieter workplace, shorter days and a more targeted curriculum. My students are helping me elevate my game and bringing me new ideas for future academic research articles on linguistic similarities between languages.

2 – Shorter days, give me more daylight time (ie: energy) to organize and review old work. I’ve been working on several projects:

• Reinterpretations of my old poems through the lenses of different themes.
• Doing a more in-depth analysis of Shakespeare’s Sonnets and relating how they remain important (relevant) today. Seeing as how my students tend to be either Gen X or Gen Z, I’m always looking for better ways to explain things in their way… this is what has lead me to attempting to translate the Sonnets into (my) Gen X vernacular and (my daughter’s) Gen Z dialect. At the very least, this is a very enjoyable experiment.
• I’ve been opening myself and my older artworks to academic criticism, while exploring new inspirations and possible reinterpretations of older works in different styles.

All this to say, I’ve been reading books a little less… T.A.E.’s Book review will return soon. I have notes and journals on at least a hundred more books I’ve read. I just need time to write them into a review format.

ps: I’ve started rediscovering the joys of writing in the critical essay format again. Don’t be surprised if that format eventually takes over from my current rather academic ramblings.
