The Find that found me!

Ok, so I’ve wanted to work on a metal cabinet for quite some time now and in a recent dig, this meal apothecary cabinet nearly jumped out at me from under a pile of odds and ends. With very little rust, almost no denting, and the hardware all intact, i couldn’t resist it.

I’ve already started experimenting with getting off the years of overpaints to reveal the bare metal beneath. Did you know it shines and shimmers when the sander finally gets to the metal surface. I’ve also had to use a metal brush attachment on my drill. I just don’t have the guts to put a grinder to it just yet, but I’m getting there!

I’m still not sure I’ll undertake the paint removal on the inside, but having seen the clean metal on the outside, I feel I might just have to do it.

I guess you’ll have to wait and see what comes as soon as I make time to finish the ever growing list of projects. I am not complaining. I love doing this stuff. I just want more time and space to do it!

Please give me a hand and donate to the new workshop and follow my new site for all this wonderment at Found – The Repurposed Design Company.
