I have this still-small Japanese maple tree in my backyard and up until recently haven’t had a place where it could flourish. It’s been in a darker corner on my gardens. I moved it to a new Zen garden I built in the middle of the yard and it now has lots of sunshine to keep it warm. I’m expecting it to grow as large as several others I’ve had in other homes. The day I took this shot was very sunny and very hot. One could see the heatwaves rising off the stones in the garden and the walkways. The leaves of my maple were brightened and seemed very happy. Usually a dark crimson, I found the brighter reds as I got closer to the tree. That is what I wanted to capture… the rich variance of reds that attract me to these beautiful trees.
