I find myself attracted to Lily-like flowers. It’s not so much the shape of the petals, but the wald range of deep colours, the luxurious texture of the petals, and the dramatic structure of the inside of these remarkable plants. All this becomes interesting to me only because I get really close to them and look inside. Yikes, does that description ever sound creepy. Oh well, maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. Fascination indulged is invasive of space and from that perspective, perhaps creepy.
Anyway, please look at the heart of this flower… how the bright yellow transitions into a cool crimson only to tease the eye with a deeper and warmer yellow at the crests of each stalk. I find it impossibly beautiful.
