I know it’s been only two days since posting the last update on this piece, but it’s been five days in real-life… and what a five days they’ve been!!! I’ve been procrastinating from this piece — unusual for me, I know, but I’ve been av riding the final brush strokes nonetheless. I wanted to add in an outline drawing of Miles playing his horn… one with his trademark massive glasses, but I just couldn’t find the right angle or position to place it on the canvas. I even did sketches on tracing paper to hold up to the canvas and nothing!
Finally, I realized my Miles playlist was starting to get to me. There’s a point in his music that it feels like you’re ridding a little red wagon down the Alps; trees are whizzing by, birds and small animals are continuously jumping up around you, and a thousand spectators are shouting incomprehensibly at you while you tear down the slopes, holding on for dear life! Well, maybe that’s just me. I was losing focus and getting anxious from the live improvisations.
So, I tone it down, found the calm again, and painted in the course of the music… Ahhh. calmness.
Deep breath in and onto the next thing…
