Making these spontaneous-ish portraits is really fun. I’m finding the use of extra paints from other projects to be a stimulating challenge. I’ve been deep into portraits lately and so I am not surprised this one became a face. It started with yellow and I didn’t feel any flames until I added the light blue. The shocked expression in the eye also gave me the impression he is more surprised to be on fire again, than the painful fact that he may actually be on fire now! As you can see, I’m allowing myself to paint in loose and short strokes. Just playing over the surface, instead of blending into it. This is fun!
