As mentioned in recent posts, I’ve tired of the full frontal portrait and want to see what I can do with this profile. I feel there will be more possibility to observe the details of my own face this way. I’ve been successful in the past using black and white photos to work from, so here I go again…
The thing is that I have so many different styles to try and only a few weeks to try them. By the time my professor gave me this new challenge, I had already started on one. The first painting with be on a recycled (overpainted ) canvas that I did almost a decade ago when I was experimenting with making abstracts out of old paint. It is covered with heavy texture… my favourite surface to work on.
The following ones with explore different artists styles, starting with Frank Auerbach & David Park.
