A really bad night sleep; bored to death at work; sore back; literally looking for things to complain about; ran out of watercolour paper while still having ideas to get down on it; just really grumpy!

As I sat there looking at the thick, grey cardboard back from my watercolour pad, knowing my watercolours wouldn’t show well on it, it dawned on me that I could try using the old box of scrap pastels found in the art room at the school I was cleaning. I gave myself a minute to think up something that would express my grumpiness and the dehydrated alien-thugs that Marvin the Martian had in a gum-ball machine (see classic Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck cartoons) came to mind. Very quickly the image of the little chickenhawk from the Foghorn Leghorn cartoons popped into mind. So, I combined the images into this grouchy fowl.
