One of the benefits of having a terrace overlooking the water is the expansive view of the sky. It’s been a particularly sunny summer (2022) and some of our potted flowers are loving it. As is my usual practice, I like to get in close to my subjects and try to look at them from different perspectives to see how they change and how their surroundings might transform. this flower was beautiful as pink against green, but the green leaves often look a dull yellow in the noontime sun. The power contrasting and complimentary colours are between the petals and the azure sky. Montreal sky’s almost always appear a little grey, because of the high humidity associated with being on an island. With only a little encouragement, they darken to become even more contrasting as a background to the sun kissed flowers.
More to come…
