I had a funny series of interactions yesterday… all relatable back to gratitude. Imagine the scenario where I thank someone for complimenting me and they thank me for inspiring them, then ai thank them for allowing me to inspire3 them, and the back an forth complements just kept going… it was a gratitude tennis match, but the ball became guild and fear over not wanting to appear ungrateful. I say it was funny in the sense that it was weird, uncomfortable, and absurd. This is an excellent example of overthinking it!

In retrospect, I was not really accepting my friend’s gratitude, much less having genuine gratitude of my own. Instead, I worried about reciprocation. I don’t feel that is what gratitude is about. It is a personal feeling and the energy that comes out from it will be felt the the subject we are thankful to. Now I see why the gesture for thanks is so deeply beautiful for me. Smile, eyes wide and smiling too, hands raised in front of our chest (heart chakra) – palms pressed together, head slightly bowed… and we say thank you in a soft and love-filled voice. I always feel like love is flowing through me when I do it, and I always feel moved and connected to those who do it to me.
