Um, what next? Reciprocation and/or Paying Forward?

The answer, according to this article published by The Community Roundtable is community. If the event that stimulates gratitude is either external or internal, we can show our gratitude by giving something back or sharing the joy forward. Both of these nurture community. Well, at least with those of like minds. The one case that may be more absolute could be in the practice of smiling. If you feel happy inside, smile. Smile at everyone you pass on the street. Even if that person doesn’t smile back, you may have given them something to think about that is different from their dark thoughts. Regardless, you are giving the happy-grateful feeling-energy outward. Maybe gratitude is meant to be shared and maybe a smile is the simplest way to share it.

  1. I really appreciate the effort you are pulling here to talk about gratitude and more importantly about being grateful for things we take for granted.
I am grateful to many things: health, good family, good friends and i am grateful to people like you who remind us all that even the smallest things deserve gratitude from our behalf.
